Gibraltar faced three defeats in Squash after valiant battles
Anthony Brindle had a frustrating final match in the finals play-offs against Guernesy’s Janick Redford. Playing for bronze this was a big occasion for Brindle who had previously picked up medals in the Island Games.
brindle was to feel the strength of game by Radford who kept a hard power play going to win his sets 12-10, 11-8, 12-10.
Every set was played out to the very end with both players alternating in the lead, Radford just edging it in what was a frustrating match for Gibraltar’s player.
in other matches Navas took Jake Kelly from the Caymans Islands to the bitter end. Losing the first set 13-11 Christian Navas came back to win the next set 9-11. He, however fell in the next set losing 11-1 but once again jumped back in to equalize the game winning the fourth at 12-10. A tough battle on court was not enough though as Navas fell in the last set 11-7.
Just two courts down Pinggera was having the same fate. Having lost his first two sets 11-6, 11-9 he was able to force his way back into the match winning the next two 11-6, 11-7. This took the game to the final set where unfortunately it became one set too many with Anthony Hardin from Jersey taking the match.
