Gibraltar Port Authority Open Day

The Gibraltar Port Authority will be hosting an Open Day this Sunday, where members of the public are invited to attend.

The event will be hosted on sail training Tall Ship ‘Jean de la Lune’, a traditional French Schooner built in 1957. This Sunday’s open day will be open between 11am and 3pm where people are allowed to board the vessel. Entrance to the event is free.

“The Jean de la Lune open day will be a unique opportunity for the public to get an insight into one of these magnificent sail training ships visiting our port and a great day out for all the family,” Captain of the Port Commodore Bob Sanguinetti said.

The ship was originally used as a fishing vessel but after a full refurbishment is now one of the UK’s Sail Training International fleet. She set sail at the Canary Islands and will stop at Gibraltar on its route to the UK. After the pit stop at Gibraltar the vessel will head to Lisbon and La Coruña.

The Jean de la Lune is offering a special deal during its stop at Gibraltar, to join the ship in its sail to Lisbon or La Coruña at a discounted rate of £150 per person per week. Those interested should visit the vessels website: www.sailjdl.co.uk.
