Gibraltar Rock Stars Figure Skating

Gibraltar Rock Stars Figure Skating Club held a summer camp for children and adults as part of the Gibraltar Summer Sports and Leisure Programme.

The classes were held at the Kings Bastion Leisure Centre Ice Rink and 68 year old ice skater Jane Punter has said she would encourage more adults to join in the classes.

Two groups attended the ice skating classes with the beginner’s class followed by the advanced, and in total around 35 people have been participating with the youngest being four years old and the eldest aged 68.

The children learnt the basic skills such as learning how to fall and adjusting themselves to getting used to skating on the ice. The advanced class learnt more difficult moves such as spins.

“We have brought a coach over from the UK Kelsey Nolan, she is an ex-pupil of mine that has done international events, and she has come over to help me,” said Club Coach Sue Walsh.
