Haenow leads the entertainment on May Day

Ben Haenow arrives on the Rock today and will be the leading act in tomorrow’s May Day celebrations. The singer won the eleventh series of The X Factor in 2014 – you will recall his winning debut single of One Republic’s -Something I Need -  released just in time for Christmas that year and which went straight into the number one spot in the UK singles chart. The following year he went on to release his first solo album and the single with Kelly Clarkson - Second Hand Heart which was recorded in Los Angeles after he signed with Syco Music.

Over the past few months he has been playing lots of live shows and writing with a few different people.

"Literally just finished a UK Tour. Everything is in the very early stages at the moment and the current album is still out there going very well."

This is part of an interview published in full in today's Chronicle.

So, what is on the cards?

More gigging, more live dates and some festivals over the summer. I’m in talks with people about the second album at the moment.

Is show business all it is cracked up to be?

I’ve had some incredible experiences. I don’t really know what I expected it to be like but I’m having the time of my life and I feel very lucky to be in the position that I am.
