Insurance sector well-placed for Brexit challenge

Brexit does not represent doom and gloom for the Gibraltar insurance industry – “far from it” - though the sector may have to reposition itself in relation to EU business, according to Nigel Feetham, a partner in Hassans.

It is a message that will reassure not only the local industry but its many customers in both the UK - with which much of its business as done - and the EU and other countries.
While companies that write EU business will face uncertainty, the option of relocation to another EU jurisdiction would still be open to them, and for those whose business is with the UK little, if anything, will change.
“Gibraltar's professional community is known for its resilience,” Mr Feetham said.
