Police launch money laundering investigation

The Royal Gibraltar Police has launched a money laundering investigation following a disturbance at a local residential estate.

Two local men aged 29 and 30 years were arrested at Beach View Terraces after officers were alerted of the disturbance.

A police spokesman said the unemployed men were found sat in a high value car inside the estate.

The 30 year old was found in possession of small amounts of cocaine and diazepam and was also arrested on outstanding warrants for not paying fines.

The 29 year old was arrested by financial investigators on suspicion of money laundering and his high value car was seized.

Officers executed search warrants at addresses frequented by the men. At an Edinburgh Estate address a 39 year old was arrested for possession of 15 grams of cannabis.

At another Beach View Terraces address a local 26 year old woman was arrested for possession of 50 grams of cannabis. Police also seized a substantial amount of cash and high value goods as part of the money laundering investigation.

The 29 year old man has also been arrested on suspicion of assault, causing damage and causing intentional harassment after a complaint was lodge by the woman who was also arrested.

Police have imposed conditions for the man not to interfere with the woman.
