Taxi drivers counter Chamber claims and point to congestion problem

The Gibraltar Taxi Association has invited the Chamber of Commerce to spend the day with their drivers to see for themselves the problems they encounter providing services in Gibraltar on a day-today basis.

This follows the Chamber’s scathing put-down of the City Taxi Service which it described as ““unacceptably inadequate” and claimed was giving “a very damaging impression” of Gibraltar to visiting businesspeople and tourists alike.

Responding to those remarks, the GTA said the Chamber’s comments were damaging the image of the Association and its members.

“Our problem is logistical and no amount of taxis will fix the issue,” GTA Treasurer Christian Agius told the Chronicle, adding that “passengers have to wait anything between 15-45 minutes, depending on the time of day, not because there are not enough taxis but because driver’s can’t move between A and B quick enough”.
