Three arrested after Gib resident is stabbed in La Linea
Spanish police arrested three persons in connection with a robbery in La Linea during which a Gibraltar resident was stabbed 11 times.
The incident took place in the early hours of October 30 in the Plaza de la Constitución in La Linea, when the victim – described as a Portuguese national in his 40s – was walking back to the Rock.
According to a statement from the Policia Nacional, he was approached by four persons who began to assault him without warning, punching and kicking him.
One of those involved in the attack stabbed the man 11 times with a large knife, police said.
The attacker fled the scene taking the man’s possessions, including a wallet containing a large amount of cash.
The man received emergency medical care in Spain and spent several days in intensive care.
Police investigations led to the identification and subsequent arrest of three of the four people allegedly involved in the assault.
Two are Moroccan nationals aged 22 and 26, while the third is a Spanish female juvenile, all of them resident in La Linea.
The three are being investigated on suspicion of attempted murder and robbery.
Police continue to work to identify the fourth assailant.
