Boxing joins AIBA

The Gibraltar Amateur Boxing Association has been accepted as a member of the International Boxing Association.
GABA have celebrated their success with little publicity after years of attempting to join the international association as members.
The International Boxing Association (AIBA), originally known as the Association Internationale de Boxe Amateur, is a sport organization that sanctions amateur boxing matches and awards world and subordinate championships.
The International Association is itself going through a process of reforms with a reform committee recently created as its aims to reform its statues.
Gibraltar’s presence within the Association will provide an opportunity for the sport to develop within the international arena at time when the sport continues to consolidate its progress.
Speaking on their success Kalean Joyce, representative of the Gibraltar Amateur Boxing Association commented, “GBA is ecstatic on been able to achieve membership after years of hard work and looks forward to working with the world’s international boxing association.”
