Chemo suite nears completion

The chemotherapy suite at St Bernard’s Hospital is expected to be completed by early April and will be fitted with televisions and anti-bacterial floors.

The suites are still under construction but the Chronicle was given a first look into the premises before it opens to the public.

Director of Estates and Clinical Engineering, Derek Alman, has been working on this project since October last year. He said the suite had been modelled on other suites in Malaga and aims to ensure patients comfort.

Due to the fact that chemotherapy patients typically suffer from reduced immunity the walls of the suite have been painted with anti-bacterial paint. The floors also hold anti-bacterial properties.

There are three suites where treatment will be administered.
