Court jails man who mugged teen

A man who mugged a vulnerable 15-year old boy and stole his mobile phone and silver chain was yesterday jailed for 18-months.

The locally resident Spanish national was found guilty of robbery and theft following a Supreme Court trial late last year.

In sentencing, Puisne judge Karen Ramagge Prescott underscored that the defendant had expressed no remorse or regret as he continues to protest his innocence.

She sentenced him to 18 months in prison and ordered he pay the victim £650 compensation. If he fails to pay that sum by the end of January then, the judge ordered, he must serve a further three months in jail.
