Early-morning music bout ends in arrest

A 71-year old man was arrested for blasting Michael Jackson’s ‘Beat it’ from his sound system at 3am on Monday morning, prompting complaints from neighbours.

The man has not yet been charged by the Royal Gibraltar Police, but the Chronicle understands he played the beginning of Michael Jackson’s song ‘Beat It’ on repeat.

The music began playing in the early hours of Monday morning at around 3.15am and was put to a stop at 4am by officers.

The incident took place in the town area around City Mill Lane.

It is understood the music echoed through the streets and it was tough for the officers to pin-point where it was coming from.

A police spokesman said the man was arrested when he failed to turn his music off after already having been booked for loud music.

He was later bailed.
