Fire and Rescue Service announces promotions

Several fire fighters at the Gibraltar Fire and Rescue Service have been promoted recently after a meeting held by the Gibraltar Government promotional board.

Two Sub Officers have been promoted to Station Officer. Jason Mesilio has worked for the Service over the past 30 years and is a qualified Rope Rescue Instructor. He will now take Command of Red Watch. With almost 14 years’ experience Edgar Ramirez was also promoted to Station Officer. Over his career he has successfully completed courses at The Fire Service College in the UK and he will now work as Line Manager within Blue Watch.

A further three officers were promoted to the position of Sub Officer. Leading Firefighter Kevagn Estella joined the Service in 2000 and forms part of the Blue Light insturctor’s complement. He has been tasked with developing the Brigade’s emergency driving skills and is a rope rescue supervisor.

Jared Olivero has been posted to Red Watch after his promotion to Sub Officer. He has worked in the Service over the past 13 years and is a breathing apparatus instructor. He has played a pivotal role in circulating guidance documents and developing operational crew in BA firefighting.

Following his Sub Officer promotion Nicholas Poggio has been posted to White Watch. Mr Poggio joined the Service in 2003 and is responsible for supervising the servicing and testing of all fire service front line ladders.

The Gibraltar Government wished the men the “best of luck” when leading their crews through this new phase in their careers.
