In a gallery (not so) far, far away…

The Star Wars theme tune blared as local artist Aaron Seruya launched his newest exhibition titled ‘The World of Science Fiction’ at the Fine Arts Gallery on Monday evening.

Mr Seruya was flanked by the Minister for Culture Steven Linares, Fine Arts Gallery Manager Gino Sanguinetti, his parents and a storm trooper at the opening event.

The exhibition was inspired by Luke Skywalker actor, Mark Hamill’s, recent visit to Gibraltar to open the Sky Walk.

The exhibition features 15 of Mr Seruya’s latest works, as well as his Jedi Masterpiece called ‘Luke Skywalker through the ages’, featuring portraits of Mr Hamill.

Mr Linares and Mr Sanguinetti both commended Mr Seruya on his hard work to produce the exhibition.

“These works show my deep passion for the subject matter,” Mr Seruya said.

He added the science fiction focus of his work allowed him to paint “unconventional” portraits.

Mr Seruya also thanked his father for his life-long guidance in painting.

A raffle of a print of the ‘Luke Skywalker through the ages’ will take place on May 17. Miss Gibraltar 2018 Star Farrugia will pick the winning number.

The proceeds of the raffle will be donated to the Gibraltar Hearing Issues and Tinnitus Association.

The exhibition is open until May 17.
