Garcia in Washington for meetings on Capitol Hill
The Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia is in Washington for a series of meetings with members of Congress and others on Capitol Hill.
This follows the ‘very successful’ visit to Gibraltar by a Congressional delegation in February, the Gibraltar Government said in a statement.
The Government highlighted that Congressman George Holding has tabled a resolution in the House of Representatives which supports the right of the people of Gibraltar to determine their own future. This has since been supported by other Members.
Dr Garcia's work in Washington will centre on promoting closer political, cultural and economic links between Gibraltar and the United States.
This strategy has already delivered results with the formation of a local branch of the American Chamber of Commerce AMCHAM as well as the recent Congressional visit to Gibraltar, the Government added.
