GHA approves dementia strategy
The GHA Board unanimously approved the Gibraltar Dementia Strategy yesterday, highlighting the need to create a “dementia aware community”.
Pledging their full support yesterday the board - comprised of the Minister for Health Dr John Cortes, Chief Executive Fred Pitto, non-executive member lawyer Charles Lavarello, and medical members Dr Daniel Cassaglia and Dr Krishna Rawal - discussed and rubber-stamped the document.
Only two members of the public attended yesterday’s open meeting held at the John Mackintosh Hall, Shadow Minister for Health Roy Clinton and a Chronicle reporter.
“We are very pleased as a Board to have approved the Dementia Strategy,” Dr John Cortes told the Chronicle after the meeting.
“This is a significant and important development of the strategy, which has increased what we do for dementia patients and carers and will bring together the wider public service and non-governmental organisations in taking better care of dementia sufferers.”
