Gib Scouts will host Euro Jamboree in 2021

Gibraltar will host the scouts 2021 Euro Jamboree for the small nations of Europe. Members of the local Branch of the Scout Association presently in Monaco who are attending the third international jamboree for small nations of Europe ‘Mini Euro Jamboree’ secured the event which will be held on the Rock for the very first time.

Following a bid presentation on Friday evening presided by David Mckee, Director for the European Scout Region at the Monaco Jamboree, the local Branch was granted the hosting of the 2021 Jamboree followed by the Faroe Islands in 2018.

Chief Commissioner of the Scout Association (Gibraltar Branch) Mark Rodriguez told the Chronicle this was the biggest event the Gibraltar Scouts Association had been asked to host by its international body.

“In our 106 years of history locally it is the first time we have been entrusted to organise such a large event. It’s an opportunity to strengthen our relationship with other similarly sized states in Europe,” he says.
