Gibraltar is a threat to Spain - survey
Respondents in a Spanish survey identified Gibraltar as one of the mains foreign threats facing Spain.
The Rock appears at the bottom of the list, sandwiched between China and Russia in a ranking that also includes Islamic terrorism, the economic crisis and clandestine migration.
Only a small number of people identified Gibraltar as a concern, but they included respondents of all ages and ideologies, most of them university educated.
Perhaps surprisingly, as many respondents from the left as from the right voiced concern about Gibraltar, according to the data.
The survey was the latest carried out by the Real Instituto Elcano, the respected Madrid-based think tank, and sampled public opinion in Spain on foreign affairs.
