Gibraltar listed in Spain’s UN priorities

Opening of High-level plenary meeting on addressing large movements of refugees and migrants.

Spain has included Gibraltar on its list of priorities for the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly, which began this month.

In a statement issued yesterday, Spain’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs said it would defend the principle of territorial integrity and application to Gibraltar.

The statement, which is standard at the start of each session, was in included as a footnote in a much lengthier document outlining Spanish goals for this UN session.

Spain’s key priorities include working on international peace and security issues; migration and humanitarian challenges; human rights; sustainable development; and the election of a new Secretary General, coupled to UN reform.
