Gibraltar trains in Faro ahead of World Cup Qualifiers

Gibraltar's national team displayed confidence and optimism during a training session in Faro yesterday evening ahead of its first FIFA European World Cup qualifier against Greece today.

Following its admission into FIFA last May, Gibraltar was placed in UEFA Group H for the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers, alongside Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia and Cyprus.

In an interview in today's Chronicle, Dennis Beiso, General Secretary of the GFA  said: "I think I speak on behalf of all of us at the GFA, and indeed Gibraltar, when I say that the match against Greece represents the culmination of many years of hard work to get us into FIFA."

"The fact that we are taking to the field in a FIFA World Cup qualifier is hugely symbolic – and a vindication of the hard work put in by so many people at various levels in the GFA for decades."
