Gibraltarian MEP candidate heads Bristol for LibDem launch
Gibraltarian MEP candidate Luke Stagnetto will be in Bristol tomorrow for the launch of the Liberal Democrats campaign for the South West of England and Gibraltar.
Mr Stagnetto, who left Gibraltar on Friday, is currently completing a degree in politics and international relations at Bristol University.
He left for Bristol buoyed by the strong performance of the Liberal Democrats in the local government elections in England last week.
“It is in our best interests for the United Kingdom and Gibraltar to remain in the European Union and that is exactly the position that I am defending as part of the Liberal Democrats team,” he said.
“My pledge is an absolute commitment to continue to work to stop Brexit.”
“I am very much looking forward to return to Bristol to launch the campaign together with the rest of the candidates for the Combined Region of the South West and Gibraltar.”
“My presence will put Gibraltar on the electoral map.”
“It will be recalled that 67% of the voting electorate in Gibraltar voted Liberal Democrat in the 2014 European elections partly due to the hard work in defence of our rights by Lib Dem MEP Sir Graham Watson.”
