Guardia Civil seize drugs and firearms after Puente Mayorga chase

Guardia Civil officers seized 450 kilos of cannabis resin and two loaded firearms after a car chase that started in Puente Mayorga, at the northern end of the bay.

The driver of a Citroen C-5 tried to ram the officers before setting off at speed toward Jerez de la Frontera.

He managed to evade detention and finally ditched the vehicle near Facinas, where it was recovered by the roadside.

Inside, the officers found 15 bales of cannabis resin weighing a total of 450 kilograms.

They also found a 12-bore shotgun and 25 cartridges, together with a loaded 9mm semiautomatic pistol.

The driver managed to flee the scene and an investigation is under way, the Guardia Civil said in a statement.
