Hearing assisted equipment to be used in St Theresa’s church

The Gibraltar Hearing Impaired Tinnitus Association has installed £4,000 worth of hearing assistance equipment in St Theresa’s Church.

Hearing assist headsets, resembling a stethoscope, for the hard of hearing that do not require hearing aids are readily available. Neckloops that connect to hearing aids are also available.

The St Theresa’s Church equipment will be officially launched this Thursday. The Chronicle understands this is the first this system will be used in any of the local churches.

The Alwani Trust had previously donated £2,000 to the GHITA and through the associations further fundraising they were able to afford the equipment. In total 16 sets of equipment were purchased.

“This equipment works via radio. It is hooked up and connected to the PA system of the church,” GHITA Chairman Edgar Triay told the Chronicle.
