Almost all flights arriving and departing yesterday from Gibraltar Airport were delayed due to French strikes.

All flights bar the Tangier flight, which is the only local route that does not travel through French airspace, were delayed for at least an hour.

The first flight to arrive on the Rock was delayed by three hours due French air traffic controllers protesting against government plans to relax the 35 hour week.

The London Gatwick flight was expected to arrive yesterday morning at 10.55am, but instead arrived at 1.40pm. Due to this delay the easyJet flight departed from Gibraltar over three hours late.

General Manager of Air Traffic Control, Trevor Hammond, told the Chronicle local flights had experienced some delays, but the delays were not expected to continue today.
