Investigation into harassment of a child

Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding an alleged incident with a child yesterday afternoon.

The Royal Gibraltar Police is treating the matter as ‘harassment of a child’ and, in a statement, said it was aware of posts circulating on local social media forums regarding the incident.

“We can confirm that we are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident yesterday afternoon, whereby an 8yr child felt distressed after being allegedly harassed by an unknown male who may have been under the influence of alcohol.”

The nature of possible previous contact between the said individual and the child is also the subject of enquiries, police said.

In connection with this investigation, police are appealing for witnesses who may have been in the area of Referendum House, Glacis Estate between 1500-1515hrs yesterday, and who may have either witnessed the incident or observed a blue coloured vehicle with possible Spanish registration plates and four occupants.
