Lithuania hold Gibraltar to a 1-1 draw

Gibraltar face a difficult last group match against Switzerland after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Lithuania.
Gibraltar started tentatively. With the match watched by A three quarter full stand it was a pressurizing prospect for the home team. Lithuania might have lost 11-1 against Switzerland but they could still pose a threat. This was shown when in the fifth minute it took Gibraltar's keeper to keep them out from a short corner.
Gibraltar picked up the pace after that and had their first break to goal.
Gibraltar put on the pressure the defence breaking Lithuania's attempts at quick breaks and taking it to goal.
A shot crossing past the front of goal with the final stick deflection not there.
As the first quarter drew to its end the frustration among Gibraltar were apparent.
Gibraltar had been finding it hard to find a path to goal. With five
minutes gone in the second quarter Julian Lopez found the back of the net from a short corner award.
Lithuania reacted by stepping forward only to find themselves faced with a strong focus Gibraltar defence.
This lasted a short time as Gibraltar sought the second goal. Piling the pressure on to Lithuania's defence, the latter putting all but one of their players behind the 25 yard line at times it was difficult for Gibraltar. Lithuania had literally parked their defence in front of goal. Gibraltar had little space to find a way to goal. They entered half time break 1- 0 ahead.
Lithuania were to shock everyone when they struck with an early goal immediately after the break. Gibraltar looked somewhat stunned and were not settling down. This allowed Lithuania to press on them.
Gibraltar found it difficult to get into a flowing game needing some individual skill to get them to a scoring chance.

Within minutes they weaved a path to the very goalmouth earning another short corner. The first touch going astray and wasting a chance.
Gibraltar maintained the pressure on Lithuania throughout the third quarter but could not break the deadlock ending the third quarter still at 1-1.
Pushing their lines forward Gibraltar were penning Lithuania back but were forced to keep players back at times as Lithuania threatened to break.
Gibraltar were finding themselves crowded off the ball as they reached close to Lithuania’s goal.
With seven and a half minutes of play to go some clever play earned Gibraltar a short corner. Although the ball hit the back of the net the goal was disallowed
for supposed feet.
There were some tired legs on both sides as the match reached its final five minutes. Lithuania’s keeper blocking a shot at goal. A pass by Henwood not quite reaching Guiling as both he and Ramagge found themselves free.
A shot by Henwood outside area struck goal but without Ramagge able to get a touch.
Henwood was then bundled to the ground outside the area to earn a short corner. Lithuania’s protests earned them two players send off with fifty seconds left.
A last minute shot going just wide as Lithuania held to a 1-1 draw.
Gibraltar now need to get a positive result to secure a place in the semi-finals.
