Mind your language ON GIB, PSOE MP tells Margallo

Salvador de la Encina has called on Spain’s Acting Foreign Minister to be more “prudent” when making brash statements about Gibraltar. This weekend Jose Manuel Garcia Margallo in an extended interview with the ABC newspaper again insisted on the Spanish Government’s intent of convincing the Gibraltarians that the sooner they accepted the proposal of temporary joint-sovereignty between the UK and Spain the better it would be for everyone.

“Anything contrary to this could potentially paralyse any future investments in the colony,” Sr Margallo again warned in his interview.

De la Encina, the PSOE MP for the Cadiz Province, told Europa Press it was inconceivable that a Foreign Minister was able to issue statements of this nature on a daily basis, “without having first consulted the rest of the parties, and furthermore without any debates having taken place in the Spanish parliament so as to allow a joint-effort on such a major issue such as Gibraltar”.
