New Governor arrives on Wednesday ahead of low-key swearing-in ceremony
Gibraltar’s new Governor, Vice Admiral Sir David Steel, will arrive on Wednesday.
On the afternoon British Airways flight from Heathrow, ahead of his swearing-in ceremony on Thursday.
Sir David will be welcomed by the Governor, Nick Pyle, Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and Commander British Forces, Commodore Tim Henry.
He will be sworn-in as Governor in Parliament on Thursday at a ceremony commencing at 11am.
Due to public health restrictions arising from the Covid-19 pandemic, there will be far fewer guests than usual at the ceremony.
Additionally, there will be no Guards of Honour outside Parliament, either before or after event
