No contenders for Feetham in GSD leadership vote

Daniel Feetham will be re-elected today as the leader of the GSD for another four years.

Despite post-election speculation that he might face a leadership challenge, no other candidates came forward and he is the only candidate.

Mr Feetham’s appointment will be confirmed by the party today.

In an interview with this newspaper earlier this year, Mr Feetham said he would have welcomed a leadership challenge.

“In democracies, it’s good to have a leadership challenge so that people can make up their minds in terms of what are the different visions, views or agendas for the next four years,” he said at the time.

“But I think that I am the best person to lead the GSD and that I would be doing a huge disservice to my party by stepping aside at the present moment.”
