Overwhelming response for Spanish Civil War exhibition
A symposium on Gibraltar and the Spanish Civil War, organised by Unite the Union for this Wednesday, has received an overwhelming response with close to 500 people expected to attend.
The theatre seats at the John Mackintosh Hall were filled within a week of the event being published in the Chronicle and the organisers were forced to also open up the Charles Hunt Room to the event. Unite has also announced the opening of an exhibition at the Bacarisas Gallery which will open to the public this Thursday on ‘The Republican struggle and the Gibraltar dimension: A history of partisanship, trade union solidarity and international aid’.
Michael Netto who has worked alongside Alfred Olivero and Alfred Sacramento, all retired union members, said they had never expected such a reaction.
