Podium finishes for Gibraltar shooters at IPSC European Handgun Championships 2023

The Gibraltar Pistol Association returned from the IPSC European Handgun Championships 2023 with podium finishes for some of its members.
Speaking after the event spokesperson for the association explained, “shortly after returning from the IPSC European Handgun Championships 2023, the GPA attended the Open do Mar Level three match held in Portugal. The match was 12 stages shot in one day at the O Pinhal shooting range in Tavira on the Algarve.
“The match was intense and was shot in temperatures over 30 degrees.
“The GPA did themselves proud, with Stephen Borge taking second place in the Open Division, and John Holmes taking first place in the Open Senior Division. Rachael Viagas, Shane Athey, Adrian Dann and Jeff Pitchford all finished within the top 10 of their divisions.” “It was a tiring match” said John Holmes, “we have just returned from Europeans, and to stay focused from 8am to 2pm without a break in this heat was a challenge! I am very pleased with the results.”
“We are very proud of our athletes, they are making good progress and to achieve podium results at international matches makes it all worthwhile” said Mario Apap the GPA president.
