Preparing to host Netball Europe

The GNA League season has resumed with matches in all three Divisions in the old Victoria Stadium sports hall.

In the New Year, Moira Gomez, GNA President, confirmed the successes of recent seasons and looked ahead to 2016 with the undoubted highlight of Gibraltar hosting seven nations  in a Netball Europe U17 Championship between 4th. - 6th. March.

There will be seven participating countries led by England (Commonwealth Champions), Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Malta,

Switzerland and Gibraltar. This wide- ranging gathering will be staged in two phases , including a qualifying group.

Gib's selection section are preparing for their greatest ever challenge under coaches - Claire Nunez, Janice Moreno and Keisha Moreno.

It is to be hoped that many of the table officials will be officiating at this prestigious event will be local Gibraltarians.

Umpires

There are 28 umpires active at present from 41 who have qualified over the past year.

Nadine Pardo Zammit has qualified to Netball Europa 'A' standard, through a massive amount of work and commitment as is GNA's Umpiring Coordinator.

There are two 'B' grades - Lauren Lewis and Jessica Hansen  with 22 active at 'C' Grade, including 15 year old Anna Hernandez.

Young (12 year old at the time) Tiana Zammit and Chloe Hernandez  delighted everyone when attaining their Beginners Award in May and will be working toward advancement during 2016.
