Summer Sports ends with a splash

This year’s Summer Sports and Leisure Programme came to a close with a big ‘Splash’ at the Bayside Sports Centre last Friday.

Over the summer break, around a thousand children have taken part in over 30 different activities offered by the Gibraltar Sports and Leisure Authority.

Sports included athletics, rock climbing, football, canoeing, badminton, table tennis, gymnastics, javelin, beach volleyball, ju-jitsu and the list continues.

On Friday the children had fun and games in the water celebration, running around spraying each other with water guns and being showered by large sprinklers.

“The whole summer we have had a variety of sports we have practically done them all,” said Sports Leader Sean Collado. “We have even done a water polo on the beach.”
