‘A wish upon a star’ for Showdance
The Showdance Company recently staged their ‘Christmas Spectacular’ play featuring dancers of all ages.
The Christmas themed show had a heart-warming message of giving back to those less fortunate.
The show starred a young girl who was cold, alone and on the streets for Christmas. Then she finds an advent calendar and as each day is opened a different performance begins.
The show that took place at the Ince’s Hall Theatre saw the young dancers perform festive routines dressed as Christmas elves, miniature Santa’s, snowmen, and toy soldiers.
The fun event kept the audience on their toes with over 25 performances within an hour and a half.
The show kept its pace without a single lull, and the story flowed.
Young dancers provided festive cheer with their fun routines, while the older girls showed off their practised techniques.
The show also saw young singers join the dancers on stage with a rendition of ‘When you believe’ by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.
The advent calendar plays a pivotal role in the show with each new performance marking a new day on the calendar.
The young girl at first found alone is joined by the dancers throughout the show as each day progresses.
At the end of the show she is given a Christmas gift from one of the dancers with her ‘wish upon a star’ finally coming true.
