Young man arrested for illicit storage of fuel

An 18-year old local man has been arrested on suspicion of storing petrol above the legal threshold of 20lts.
The arrest follows the seizure on Saturday 6th June 2026 of approximately 1800 litres of petrol in 70 plastic containers.
The containers had been stored within a cave complex situated in the Upper Rock Nature Reserve.
The individual was arrested by officers from the RGP’s Community Policing Team, and the investigation remains ongoing
