Youngster Luka Desoisa took Charlie Flower 400m Challenge
Youngster Luka Desoiza was to come away with the winners trophy in the Charlie Flower Memorial Challenge this week. The under 18 athlete was to finish with a time of 53.96 beating fellow Atlas runner Sean Penalver and former winner Jessy Franco.
The challenge was to see two races taking place with a number of former athletes who had run under the late Charlie Flower’s guidance taking to the track. The evening was also to see 100m and 200m events alongside some field events such as long jump and shot putt.
This week was also to see the third of the road runners league races take place with over sixty runners taking to the road.
A cold levanters Sunday morning was to do little to favour runners who had to battle against a cold humid wind during parts of the round the Rock race.
Calpeans was to emerge as favorites on the day, once again taking top places as their strong team, reinforced with runners from across the border, driving competition in the league this season.
