Youngsters give 'high standard' performance in young musicians festival

The eleventh Gibraltar Festival for Young Musicians (Gib FYM) Gala Concert and prize giving ceremony took place on Tuesday at a packed John Mackintosh Hall proving to be of a high standard.

The very high grades attained in this year’s festival prompted the UK  -accredited  adjudicator,  Adrian Goss to say that he "very rarely gives outstanding  marks". This year he has given three in Gibraltar with all of the performances of the night marked in the 80%  plus as distinctions.

This year close to 1000 young musicians participated in the five day event.

The  Gala night was compered by Christian Santos and co- hosted by Cathy Batchelor who are both now  come  under the ministry of culture as GAMPA (Gibraltar Academy of Music and Performing Arts) based at the old Flat Bastion Magazine where some of the sessions took place.

The Gala Night well balanced programme of musical performances saw school choirs and individual performers take to the stage and have their adjudicator commendations read out.
